Buying Recycled

Did you know that buying products that are made from recycled materials helps:
reduce waste & pollution, conserve natural resources, create jobs and use less energy?

When you buy products with recycled content, your purchases help to create a demand for the materials collected in recycling programs and prevent those materials from ending up in a landfill. This helps to ensure that recycling programs work effectively. This is called “closing the loop”, because the process is continuous: it does not end when you put something in the recycling bin.

The aim of this guide is to show what happens to recycling beyond the bin, the importance of closing the recycling loop, the products made from recycled materials that are out there and to encourage householders and organisations to “buy it back”.
